On Monday, July 3, 2023, the PMU-B Cluster representatives took part in the event “PMU-B for the FUTURE – Second Edition: A Project for Retrospective Study and Analysis of PMU-B’s Operations to Support Policy Formulation” held at Sirikunakorn Room 3, Sirikunakorn Building, Khon Kaen University. The event was honored by the presence of Professor Dr. Sompong Klainongsuang, Director of PMU-B, who presided over the opening session of the seminar.

The event welcomed numerous researchers and distinguished experts, both onsite at Sirikunakorn Room 3 and via online platforms.

Representing the PMU-B Cluster Coordination Office were Associate Professor Dr. Rina Phattharamanon, Chair of the Frontier Research Cluster Coordination Committee, and Ms. Jatuporn Chokphukhiw, Chair of the SHA and AI Cluster Coordination Committee. They were joined by faculty members and researchers, led by Professor Dr. Sakda Daduang from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Khon Kaen University.

Key Discussion Points Included:

• The science, research, and innovation system in Thailand, including the role of Program Management Units (PMUs) in research funding and administration

• Emerging research questions, technologies, and types of human capital currently in demand by the industrial sector

• Infrastructure and ecosystems that support research development, focusing on building networks and partnerships between government, private sector, and other stakeholders

• High-performance human resources and frontier research initiatives that can be integrated with Thailand’s 10 targeted industries

• Other relevant issues related to the national research agenda
