PMU-B Conducts Field Visit to Monitor the Project on English Language Skill Development for Thailand’s Film Industry Workforce in a Virtual Environment

On July 14, 2023, from 13:00 to 15:00 hrs, the Program Management Unit for Human Resources and Institutional Development, Research and Innovation (PMU-B), led by Professor Dr. Sompong Klainongsuang, PMU-B Director, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rina Patramanon, Chair of the Frontier Research Cluster Coordination Committee, and Ms. Jaturaporn Chokphukhaochiew, Chair of the SHA and AI Cluster Coordination Committee, together with PMU-B analysts, visited the Board Room, Northeastern Science Park, Khon Kaen University, to monitor progress of the project titled:"English Language Skill Development for Human Capital in Thailand’s Film Industry in a Virtual Environment."

The delegation was warmly welcomed by:

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ornthai Phiaura, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Khon Kaen University

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Niyom Wongpongkham, Vice President for Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy

  • Prof. Dr. Thidarat Boonmars, Vice President for Innovation and Enterprisealong with the project’s research team.

The project team presented the progress made and demonstrated a VR-based English pronunciation training tool that utilizes AI-powered speech recognition to provide real-time feedback to learners.

The PMU-B leadership and analysts provided constructive suggestions to further enhance the implementation and maximize the project’s impact on the film industry’s workforce development.


In conclusion, Professor Dr. Sompong Klainongsuang, Director of PMU-B, offered strategic recommendations for future human capital development, emphasizing the potential for launching additional training programs focused on communication tools and innovative instructional models.

He underscored the importance of expanding access to learning through enhanced communication channels and the provision of certificates of completion for participants who successfully complete training programs and courses that are directly applicable to their professional careers.

Such initiatives, he noted, would empower individuals to advance their personal and professional development, while promoting lifelong learning and innovation-driven education. These programs could eventually serve as models for workforce development and learning ecosystems in the future.
