Spectacular! PMU-B Presents Stuntman Show at K-Expo Thailand 2023Empowering Thai Soft Power to Shine on the Global Stage


📅 On November 12, 2023, the Program Management Unit for Human Resources and Institutional Development, Research and Innovation (PMU-B), as a network partner of the Thai Media Fund and KOCCA (Korea Creative Content Agency), organized a Stuntman Show as part of the K-Expo Thailand 2023.

The event, held at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC), Bangkok, aimed to promote and support the development of the creative economy and foster cultural exchange between Thailand and South Korea.

The performance uniquely blended Muay Thai techniques, Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), and traditional “Pong Lang” folk music, showcasing Thailand’s soft power in the film industry. This creative presentation draws inspiration from the renowned “Ong-Bak Live Show”, previously conceptualized and directed by Mr. Prachya Pinkaew, the acclaimed filmmaker behind Ong-Bak and Tom Yum Goong.

The show was a collaborative creation by:

  • Mr. Krissanat Lardpanna, from the renowned Panna Stunt Team

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Niyom Wongpongkham, Vice President for Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy, Khon Kaen University

  • Asst. Prof. Dr. Preecha Sakorn, Faculty of Informatics, Mahasarakham University

  • Ms. Chaveewan Poltham, Manager of the “On Son Isan Pong Lang Ensemble”, Srikhunawut Wittayakom School, Khon Kaen

  • Ms. Jaturaporn Chokphukhiow, Chair of the Frontier SHA & AI/Coding Research Cluster

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rina Patramanon, Chair of the Frontier Technology Research Cluster

This performance exemplified the integration of traditional and modern Thai cultural elements into contemporary cinematic expression—demonstrating how local heritage can evolve into a globally resonant creative force.
