The Program Management Unit for Human Resources and Institutional Development, Research and Innovation (PMU-B) convened a policy meeting to provide strategic direction aimed at increasing the number of researchers and consolidating research efforts across the country under the framework of the SHA Consortium.
The meeting also included discussions on the establishment of the Thailand Soft Power Academy, which would serve as a platform to support the systematic development of high-potential soft power talent in Thailand. The initiative aligns with the broader national strategy to promote soft power and aims to extend its impact under the vision of “One Family, One Soft Power.”
📅 On October 27, 2023, the Program Management Unit for Human Resources and Institutional Development, Research and Innovation (PMU-B), led by Professor Dr. Sompong Klainongsuang, Director of PMU-B, participated in a policy consultation meeting regarding the establishment of the Thailand Soft Power Academy.
He was joined by:
Ms. Jaturaporn Chokphukhiow, Chair of the Frontier Research Coordination Committee in Social Sciences, Humanities, Arts (SHA), and Artificial Intelligence (AI/Coding)
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rina Patramanon, Chair of the Frontier Technology Research Coordination Committee
and PMU-B policy analysts
The PMU-B delegation held the meeting with Asst. Prof. Dr. Burin Plengdeesakul, Dean of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Khon Kaen University, along with associate deans from all divisions and the Director of the Dean’s Office.
The meeting focused on exchanging ideas, setting strategic directions, and laying the groundwork for the Thailand Soft Power Academy, which aims to drive national development through soft power by integrating knowledge from arts, culture, technology, and innovation.
Also present at the meeting were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Isra Kanjak, Dean of the Faculty of Education, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chupong Thongkamsamut, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Khon Kaen University.
The discussion focused on strategies to integrate art and science in a harmonious and impactful way, establishing a foundation for the Thailand Soft Power Academy as a national hub for the development of high-competency soft power talent. The goal is to expand the initiative under the vision of "One Family, One Soft Power", which aims to nurture emotional and intellectual enrichment within families through the concept of "Artistic-Scientific Wisdom", accessible to every household.
The initiative also seeks to build mechanisms for systematically developing Thailand’s vast local arts and cultural heritage into meaningful soft power assets. This will lay a strong structural foundation for national human capital development—helping to stimulate the creative economy and society, and generate stable and sustainable income for the future of Thailand. 🎨🔬💡
